Getting to The Sanctuary

  • Our venue, The Sanctuary, is on Roosevelt Island - located on the East River between Manhattan and Queens at 851 Main Street.

    • Please note that there is a hotel on Manhattan called The Sanctuary - this is NOT our venue!

  • The F train is the only Subway line that stops on Roosevelt Island. This station is wheelchair accessible.

  • For the same price as the Subway, take the Roosevelt Island Tramway from Manhattan at 59th St and 2nd Ave. The tram is open until 3:30am on Saturdays and runs every 7-15 minutes. You pay for the tram the same way as the Subway (with contactless card).

  • Once you’ve reached Roosevelt Island:

    • Take the Red bus north, and get off at Oculus. Please note that the bus runs every 10 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes at night

    • Another option: From the subway station or tramway, enjoy the promenade along the East River with views of the skyline (approximately 20 minutes from the subway/tram).

  • Ubers, Lyfts and Taxis are also reliable in NYC and will get you from any borough to the venue.

  • The venue has limited parking available(four parking spots). Please let us know if you will be bringing your own vehicle so we can make sure there is a space for you.

Tips for Navigating NYC

Many of you are traveling across the country to celebrate with us. We’ve included a few tips for getting around NYC so that you feel comfortable and confident in the concrete jungle.

  • There are 3 main airports in the New York City area - La Guardia, JFK, and Newark. We personally recommend La Guardia due to its user-friendliness and proximity to the city.

  • Download the Google Maps app, or our personal favorite - Citymapper - to guide you to your desired destination.

  • There are several ways to travel throughout NYC, first and foremost by public transit. For $3.00 per ride, you can take the Subway or bus as far as you would like. A few tips for using public transit:

    • Pay by using a contactless card (credit/debit, phone, or wearable) or pre-paid OMNY card.

    • Refer to signage on the platform to ensure you’re traveling the correct direction - uptown (north), downtown (south), east or west.

    • Be aware of express lines, which skip stops, versus local lines.

    • Be aware of your surroundings and secure personal belongings.

    • Unfortunately not every Subway station is wheelchair accessible or has escalators. Be prepared to climb a lot of stairs. We recommend taking the bus for a more wheelchair and stroller friendly experience.

  • Ubers, Lyfts and Taxis are also abundant and reliable, though not as budget friendly as public transit.

    • Use the Uber or Lyft app to request a ride from your location. Always double check the license plate and driver details when the car arrives.

    • Never accept rides from unauthorized drivers. Only use official ground transportation services by booking on an app and/or going to a designated pickup area.

  • Our wedding venue has very limited parking. Please email us at AlexisAndToby2026@gmail.com if you will be bringing your own car so we can ensure there is a parking space available for your use.

  • It can be difficult to find restrooms open to public in NYC, and when you’ve gotta go, you’ve gotta GO. Use the linked Google Map Got 2 Go NYC for a map of bathroom recommendations throughout all 5 boroughs.

NYC is one of the safest cities in the US and the world.
